Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 – Intel Core i7 8th Gen – 16GB RAM – 512GB SSD – 13.5” Touchscreen Laptop

Wow, amazing computer. Boots up and shuts down quickly and the processing speed is great. I've not had this for over a year and still love it. I will definitely buy again when I need a new computer and would highly recommend for others. Great Product.

Very good product! No complaints with it at all. Works great and fast!

My daughter is extremely happy with her Laptop. I actually tried to purchase this directly through Microsoft. Their website would not process order, I spoke to two reps over the phone and still had no success. Luckily I turned to amazon and found same exact laptop and was able to add features she needed, AND it actually cost slightly less and best news was it was delivered Prime!

It's super lightweight yet very powerful. The keyboard is very easy to type on. I haven't really utilized the touchscreen, but I am considering getting a pen now.

This is probably the best laptop I've ever owned. I've being developing on a MacBook Pro for the past 7 years. I struggled with the butterfly keyboard on the new MacBook Pro for 4 years and all the recent issues with with OSX. I bought several mechanical keyboards to try to overcome the issues and was never satisfied. The Surface Book 2 is nothing less than outstanding. The keyboard is perfect. When working in Vi, the ESC key is just the right size. I love the ThinkPad x201, x240 and x270 machines, but the key layouts for the Page Up and Page Down in relation to the up and down arrows always caused an issue. That's not a problem with the Surface Book 2.This system reminds me of the old Dell Latitudes of the early 2000's. It was a workhorse for data processing and development. This system is almost effortless to develop on.Linux Convert - I was a RHCE and have been a linux proponent for the last decade. My last Linux distro was DeepIn and loved it. As much as I hate to say it, the latest version of Windows 10 smokes Ubuntu, SUSE and CentOS. I feel really sad writing that, but it's t the truth. Just like the Apple of the early 2000's, with Window's 10, everything "Just works". Printers, scanners, Skype, IDEs (Aptana, Sublime, Android Studio....) It's such a shame. I really want to hate Windows and Microsoft, but this thing just kills them all.I contract with a lot of companies and deal with a lot of old data sources. Much of the time I have to do data work on my local system just to figure out how to export/convert the data to something usable. For example, I recently had to convert a TB of .dbf data to CSV to get this into AWS RDS. I almost set my MacBook on fire from the command line doing BREW based dbf to csv work. With the new Surface, it took seconds and I never heard a fan kick on. Time is Money in the modern development world. This is a big deal.Cons -So far, I can't find any. It would be nice if I could use iMessage on Windows, but that's not going to happen. Oddly enough, that's the only thing I can think of that is a "less than" compared to developing on my MacBook Pro.Even just typing out this review on the Surface Book 2 makes me want to keep typing. It is truly effortless. I got the Black i7. It's been a pleasure.

I have had my Surface for about 2 weeks now and love it. I bought to use for work, school, and some light gaming IE roblox (more the kids). Kids love it too. From an IT point of view, if you are looking to get one for a user or two, go ahead and get the docking station, for the price its not really that bad, and you'll want it to be able to join it to the domain. The negative plan on spending some more money for a windows 10 pro product key so that you can join it to the domain. I tried to use our Volume License key, which microsoft says is supposed to work, it never has before, and it didn't, I was already sure the key was tied to that image but gave it a try anyway.Great performance I was able to run solid works and look at some company drawings, no it is not a CAD machine but it will do the work, does get hot for its not exactly designed for that kind of work, I wouldn't recommend getting it for an Engineer. As an IT admin I'm loving it.I saw a couple of reviews saying it got soiled after like 2 days.... Those people must be extremely dirty, cause I have not had that issue, this is something I wouldn't worry about unless you know you're just a dirty person to which you probably wouldn't care.To Microsoft, I'm not always happy with how you do your windows updates (IE the working window should be allowed to be larger I work and then do school work I should be allowed more then 12 hours to setup a working window), but this machine is amazing!

I'm a graduate student, and do some blogging. I was looking for something super fast that I could use to multitask throughout the day, and wouldn't slow down with many tabs open for my research papers.Overall, the computer is okay.Pros:The user interface is very intuitive and in line with standard PC design. It was easy to customize my settings, and the screen is great. The screen resolution is fantastic, as is the keyboard setup. The size of the screen and weight of the computer make it very mobile, which is a big pro. I also like that it has what I call a "normal" USB port, so I don't need to worry about a converter. The Meh: The battery life is fine. Lasts me about 6 hours of active use. I honestly thought it would be better than that, but it's still an upgrade from my Surface Pro 2, which I had worn into the ground.Only 1 USB port. That's all I need, but may be a bummer for others. The Cons: My main complaint is with responsiveness of the computer. I often right click on Word, or another program, expecting it to show my most recently used documents. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Dragging emails to different folders with the mousepad? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Clicking on an app once at the bottom of the screen to bring it to the forefront? Sometimes it works, sometimes I need to minimize everything else just to show the program I want. I've never had such a hit-and-miss computer when it comes to reliability, and that delay and inconsistency drives me absolutely bonkers. If it just wasn't available, I would find a work around, but the sudden onset of things not working that seemingly resolves itself at some unspecified time is the worst.Considering the price, and the specs I went with, I honestly expected way more for my money. I would recommend going with the Surface Pro for a cheaper price.

Honestly, this is the best laptop I've ever purchased but I did only had it for 4 months. I've had no issues with it and the keyboard is amazing! The touchscreen is also flawless and my laptop never slows down and honestly it is just amazing. I was scared to purchase such an expensive laptop because there is a chance you may recieve a laptop that is defective but so far no issues so I'm quiet happy w/ my purchase. I do have to say that when you purchase your laptop make sure you read what that seller is selling and their reviews on that product. Fortunately for me the seller I picked are the Toll brothers and they had such great reviews on their electric products. Great customer service on their part and the laptop arrived safely. Thank you so much, couldn't be any happier!

This machine is not for everyone. It is for a Windows user who thinks weight and design matters. I love the design and build quality, top notch, if not the best in the league. it can even comparable to the Macbook products. IMO.The surface laptop 2 is a bit pricey because you can buy a much faster machine with the same (or even less) amount of money. Although, we're not paying only for the hardware. We paid for the great design, great keyboard and materials, and ultra-thin design. If those things doesn't matter to you, then please move along this is not for you.I personally love this product and doesn't regret any dime I spent with this. Because I was stunted by the beauty of this machine for every time I took it out of my bag and I noticed those crowd are checking my laptop out, I know I made the right choice ! lol

Loved the laptop! But, Amazon insisted I return it, so I did. I purchased it with my Amazon Prime Credit Card and chose the 18 month no interest feature, but this was not what came on my statement. After millions of phone calls back and forth between Amazon and the credit card - the only solution that Amazon could come up with was to return it. No one would honor the promotion and no one could give it to me. This is very disappointing.

I've had computers on my desktops since 1981 and this is the first one I'd be happy to use for a lifetime. Size is right, specs are right: 13.5" display, 2.8 lbs, 12.1"x8.8" x0.6", with up to 1TB of SSD storage. Like any really good tool, it takes up only the space needed to do the job.
